Sean designed and currently teaches two original courses at Georgetown Prep: Audio Engineering and Music Media. He is joined by several GIGS staff members as they mentor students in songwriting, recording, and both music and video production. As a Georgetown Prep alum, Sean was thrilled to bring GIGS to his alma mater in 2008.

Mater Dei School
The music program at Mater Dei is rooted in hands on, experience-based learning. The GIGS staff instructs students how to operate vintage turntables, jam on a variety of instruments, and create original songs. Classes are upbeat, fun, and sometimes very loud!

GIGS handles all the booking and sound production for over 130 shows a year at this 2,000+ capacity outdoor venue located across the street from the main entrance to Nationals Stadium.

Young at Art
For 10 years, GIGS has partnered with Young at Art to present an outdoor music and arts festival called “Art Rocks.” Young at Art is a children’s art program run by Nancy Altemus at her backyard studio in Kensington.

Bright Light Media
GIGS often works closely with Kensington-based company Bright Light Media. BLM is a creative agency that provides a marketing solution for brands in need of graphic design, web development and video production services.

The DCeivers are a DC-based band made up of GIGS teachers Sean Chyun and Ian Burke on guitar/vocals and bass respectively, and with Torro Gamble on drums. These guys are the best original indie-rock and cover band in DC, and GIGS is lucky to have such awesome guys as our go-to back up band and teachers.
