GIGS History

2002 – Sean graduates from Duke University and begins pursuing a career in music.
2003 – Sean lands his first gig at the 9:30 Club and begins touring the east coast with his band.
2004 – Between tour dates, Sean begins teaching in-home music lessons to neighborhood kids.
2005 – In an effort to satisfy demand, Sean begins teaching group lessons out of his parents’ living room, allowing him to teach more kids.
2006 – Sean achieves his dream of opening up his own music studio in his hometown – GIGS is born!
2007 – GIGS begins hiring local musicians as the lesson program continues to grow.
2008 – GIGS acquires an entire floor of commercial space and begins construction on a recording studio facility – Pick-Up Productions is born!
2009 – GIGS enters the private school sector when both Georgetown Prep and Mater Dei hire GIGS to design and oversee custom music educational programs on their campuses.
2010 – GIGS is hired to book and produce all the music at two live venues in downtown Washington DC – Bayou and Fairgrounds.
2011 – GIGS acquires another floor of commercial space and expands the recording studio into the 4th floor tower.
2012 – GIGS acquires the old leather shop located directly beneath the studio. It takes six months to renovate the space into a live music venue. Foundation Gallery and Liveroom is born! The rest is history.
