When Sean founded GIGS in 2006, he was the only teacher. He is now proud to have assembled an amazing staff of creative musicians. In addition to running GIGS, Sean runs the campus recording studio at Georgetown Prep and currently teaches two original academic courses in both music and video production. He has been the head music teacher at Mater Dei School for nearly ten years, and is the Director of Booking at DC Fairgrounds. You can find him at GIGS high-fiving kids as they come in each day.
Olivia joined the GIGS team in May 2015 after graduating from American University’s School of Communication. Although she is not a musician herself, Olivia is a music and concert lover and has interned at Live Nation in New York City, The Fillmore in Silver Spring, and the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. She is originally from Burlington, NJ. Here she is seen with her right hand guy and GIGS’ #1 assistant, Henry Haywood.

We are very proud to introduce Lizzy Clarke as the newest member of the GIGS staff. After six years as a student here, in both individual lessons and as a member of the all-girl band Suburban Skies, Lizzy is now entering her sophomore year at the Academy of the Holy Cross. Having grown into a phenomenal guitarist and performer over the years at GIGS, she made for an easy transition from student to staff member. Make sure you stop in and say hello if you haven’t met her yet!
Originally from Baltimore, MD, Patrick started out as a classical violin player at age 5. He fell in love with the guitar at age 13 and has been playing ever since. Patrick has played in folk, rock, and country groups and performed solo sets since moving to DC in 2011. Along with guitar, Patrick plays bass, piano, and lap steel guitar. He strives to share his passion for music with kids, helping them discover the joy of playing the songs they love.
Ben Moran started taking guitar lessons at GIGS in 2008, and has been here ever since! After working diligently in the studio here at GIGS, Ben produced a full length album in 2015. That very same year, he joined the GIGS staff and is now teaching lessons. He is a Bernard Ebb Songwriting Awards semi-finalist.
A native Washingtonian, Tom has been active in the music community since he was 13! Drums were his first love, but has also immersed himself in the guitar, both of which he teachers here at GIGS. Tom strives to be a musician that is an open book, learning and teaching all genres.
José, a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, is psyched to join the GIGS staff as a guitar, piano, bass, drums, and vocal teacher at GIGS. While at Berklee, José led a 12-piece funk/soul band called Revel In Peace, which toured throughout the New England area. He also writes and records his own music, and has performed alongside pianist and singer Dennis Montgomery III and the late bassist Lenny Stallworth. He currently performs in the Washington, D.C. area.
Wanda began singing in choir at age 8 and started playing guitar at 15 to accompany herself. Inspired by rock music on the radio, she formed her first band in 2005. She has been writing, recording, and performing ever since! She is excited to teach at GIGS and share her passion for music with new students.
Jack is new to the GIGS staff this year after just graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Biology. He started out as a student at GIGS back in 2006, in guitar lessons, with Sean, and quickly fell in love with playing music and the environment of the studio. He is inspired by all types of music and hopes to start work on an album this upcoming year at GIGS.
Jake recently graduated with a degree in music from Ohio Wesleyan University, and is excited to be teaching at GIGS and passing his musical education on to the next generation. He started playing guitar at 14, and was playing gigs, jams, and open mics in D.C. and Maryland soon after. Since then he has been in numerous bands (playing various instruments) in Maryland and Ohio. In addition to guitar, Jake teaches bass, ukulele, vocals, and piano at GIGS.
